Bridging Policy and Practice: Dr. Gantuya.S Represents Mongolia at the 12th AAAH Conference

The 12th Asia Pacific Action Alliance on Human Resources for Health (AAAH) Conference recently concluded in Bangkok, Thailand, serving as a critical platform for health leaders across 18 member countries to address the future of the global health workforce. The Mongolian Health Human Resources Development Association (MHHRDA) was proud to participate in this influential forum, with Dr. Gantuya.S presenting Mongolia’s strategic efforts in strengthening health system resilience.

A Focus on Resilience and the Post-Pandemic Future

The theme of this year’s conference, "Learning from COVID-19 pandemic: strengthening health workforce and health system resilience," aligned perfectly with MHHRDA’s mission. As the world navigates the recovery phase of the pandemic, the conference focused on the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG3) and the urgent need to protect the mental health and professional longevity of health workers.

Highlights from Dr. Gantuya.S’s Presentation

Representing MHHRDA and the Mongolian health sector, Dr. Gantuya.S contributed to the dialogue on health practitioner regulation and continuing professional education. Her participation underscored several key priorities for Mongolia:

  • Capacity Building: Sharing how MHHRDA’s 8-stage Development Models have empowered over 2,500 members to modernize management practices.

  • Policy to Practice: Discussing how Mongolia is bridging the gap between national health policies and the daily challenges faced by health professionals on the front lines.

  • Global Alliances: Highlighting the importance of international collaboration—such as MHHRDA’s 35+ global alliances—in providing world-class advisory services and training for Mongolian specialists.

Why This Matters for Mongolia

The AAAH Conference is not just a meeting; it is a collaborative mechanism that influences how countries plan, educate, and protect their health workforce. By participating at this level, MHHRDA ensures that Mongolia remains at the forefront of global trends, including digital health integration and modern HR management.

The insights gained from global leaders, including representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Kingdom’s Department of Health, will be directly integrated into MHHRDA’s upcoming training programs and policy briefs.

Looking Ahead

As we look toward the 2030 milestones, MHHRDA remains committed to creating the "backbone" of Mongolia's health sector. The participation of leaders like Dr. Gantuya.S in international forums ensures that our healthcare professionals are not only meeting local challenges but are also supported by global best practices and strategic partnerships.
