Leading the Future of Health: Mr. Bat-Ireedui Battsooj Represents Mongolia at the 13th AAAH Conference in Lao PDR

The 13th Asia-Pacific Action Alliance on Human Resources for Health (AAAH) Conference, held in Vientiane, Lao PDR, brought together the region's most influential health leaders to address a critical challenge: “Building a Resilient Health Workforce and Preparing for Future Public Health Emergencies.” Among the key voices at this high-level assembly was Mr. Bat-Ireedui Battsooj, Secretary of the Mongolian Association for Health Sector Human Resource Development, who serves as a vital link between Mongolia’s health sector and the broader Asia-Pacific region.

A Seat at the Regional Table: The Steering Committee

Mr. Bat-Ireedui's role extends beyond the conference halls. As a member of the AAAH Steering Committee, he represents Mongolia in a strategic governance body that includes representatives from the WHO, JICA, and USAID. This position allows Mongolia to have a direct say in the regional health workforce agenda, ensuring that our national priorities—such as digital health integration and rural healthcare resilience—are reflected in international strategies.

Highlights from the 13th Conference

The 13th Conference focused on the vulnerabilities exposed by recent global health crises and how to "future-proof" the healthcare systems of member nations. Key areas of focus for the Mongolian delegation included:

  • Digital-Ready Workforce: Exploring how technologies can enhance the competency and mobilization of health workers.

  • One-Health Perspective: Strengthening primary healthcare with a holistic approach to human, animal, and environmental health—a concept particularly relevant to Mongolia’s unique landscape.

  • Resource Resilience: Identifying local initiatives and best practices that allow health systems to absorb and adapt to public health emergencies without compromising care.

Driving Collective Action

The conference was a platform for "South-South" and "North-South" collaboration. By engaging with health ministers, experts, and practitioners from 22 member countries, Mr. Bat-Ireedui and the Mongolian delegation are bringing home actionable strategies to improve health human resource planning and management.

“The goal is a future-proof health workforce,” the conference organizers noted, a mission that the Mongolian Association for Health Sector Human Resource Development carries forward every day. Through these international partnerships, Mongolia continues to modernize its management practices and lead successful healthcare transformations.

Impacting the Next Generation

A special focus of the 13th Conference was the Award for Youth, recognizing young leaders making significant impacts in their communities. This emphasis on youth leadership mirrors our commitment to empowering the next generation of Mongolian healthcare professionals through mentorship, digital innovation, and global networking.
