Strategic Alliance: NCPH and GASI Join Forces for National Food Safety

In a significant step toward safeguarding national health, the National Center for Public Health (NCPH) and the General Agency for Specialized Inspection (GASI) have officially agreed to collaborate on a new initiative. The partnership focuses on rigorous monitoring and improving the safety of food products and public health services across Mongolia.

Key Objectives of the Collaboration:

  • Scientific Data Integration: The NCPH will provide specialized laboratory analysis and evidence-based research to assist GASI in its inspection duties.

  • Risk-Based Inspection: Moving from reactive inspections to a "Risk-Based" approach, where resources are focused on the highest-risk food production areas and public services.

  • National Standards (MNS): Both organizations will work together to update and enforce Mongolian National Standards, particularly regarding food additives, hygiene in public dining, and the safety of imported goods.

  • Training and Capacity Building: Joint workshops will be organized for inspectors and public health workers to ensure they are using the latest global methodologies for health safety monitoring.

Why This Matters for Public Health:

This alliance bridges the gap between scientific research and regulatory enforcement. By combining the NCPH's diagnostic capabilities with GASI's legal power to inspect, Mongolia is moving toward a more transparent and safer food environment.

The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to develop a joint "Action Plan" for 2024–2026, which will prioritize the reduction of foodborne illnesses and the improvement of environmental health indicators.
